Collapse ▲Fiscal year 2024 (FY24) was the 17th year of implementing Steps to Health. Direct education programs, all with the ultimate goal of promoting positive behavior change related to nutrition and physical activity, were delivered by North Carolina Cooperative Extension Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) agents, 4-H Youth Development agents, and trained volunteers.
During FY24 Steps to Health reached 3327 participants (3154 youth and 173 adults) and made 21,460 educational contacts across North Carolina. Additionally, Steps to Health promoted 159 policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change initiatives by providing site-specific resources and engaging site leadership in community collaboratives. Sites initiated change strategies that impacted North Carolinians by increasing healthy food options, increasing physical activity opportunities, and encouraging healthy choices.
Additionally, messages to support healthy eating and physical activity made 10,798,754 impressions on social media, billboards, text messages, and print media.

- Volunteers recorded 529 hours
- $4,772.00 collected
- 6,149 pounds donated to food pantries
